We made a bioglyph in social studies. It is a kind of map of our selves. It told about our families, what we looked like, and things that we like. After we were done everyone hung their bioglyph on the chalkboard. We played a game where we had to identify what bioglyph belonged to each student. Some students were able to figure out 22 out of the 23 students. Everyone in the class had a book that they read and then we made projects about our book. We either made a poster, a mobile, or a book jacket. All the completed projects are hanging on our lockers and you can see the pictures below. On Friday we got to wear pajamas and bring our blanket and pillow to enjoy a movie. We did this because we filled our behavior star so we earned a party. In Language we do sentences that we have to fix. We find capitalization, ending marks, and other punctation mistakes. It helps us with our writing and we will have to do this our whole life.

We had a great time learning rhythms in music. We learned 16th notes and played the song "Where is Little Susie." We got new pet lizards in the classroom. We named them Lightning and Asia. They are long-tailed lizards and they are very active during the day. The eat crickets and like to be around the light. They sit there all day. Some students in the class began working on book project. They were to create a mobile or poster about their novel. They really seemed to like doing this project. We sorted through Capri Sun and Kool-aid drink pounches that students had recycled in the cafeteria. K-Kids are collecting these to send in and raise money for the school. Remember: send in any drink pouches from home!! In music we played a game called Where's Susie? This was to combine dance and music together. It was a lot of fun and people were laughing and playing along. In our novel groups this week we focused on learning about character traits and scene settings. We learned that character traits come from the inside of a person and how they treat life and other people. Settings are when and where the story takes place. We worked together to revise our stories. Revising means to improve our writing. We got together and helped each other to make our stories better. We looked for parts in the story that we had questions about. We looked for WOW parts of the story, too. Then finally we edited our stories today. We did this ourselves and corrected our spelling, capitalization, and punctuation mistakes. Finally we recopied our stories. Today was our Grandparent's Day. We took pictures of everyone and their grandparents. We gave them a tour of our school and we had breakfast together. We showed our classroom, artroom, and they joined us for Meet and Greet. There were over 300 grandparents in attendance. Mrs. Linstead gave us a work list today. This was a list of activities that we needed to finish before the end of the day. It included many things we had started earlier in the week but needed to complete. We worked on our own for most of the morning and the afternoon. She said we did so well that in the middle of the morning she gave us a dance break. We can really bust a move, can't we! |
