POETRY PORTFOLIO
Create a portfolio of original poetry due Tuesday, May 1.
Task:
You are going to create a portfolio of poetry. During this unit of study you will:
--learn about different poetry forms.
--read and listen to poems by children and adult authors.
--write original poetry.
--assemble favorite poems you read or heard, as well as your original poems into a creative poetry portfolio.
Time will be given in class to work on the project but some work will need to be completed at home.
All forms are available in class and students will need to ask for them if they cannot be found. Most forms will also be available on the website.
Rough drafts of poems should be kept in your writing notebooks so they do not get lost. The final copies of poems may be typed on the computer or done in your best handwriting. Each poem is required to have illustrations, also. When they are complete you should put them into the folder you were given at the beginning of the project. As you complete the poems, check them off the evaluation sheet so you know what you have left to finish.
Final portfolios should meet all the requirements on the evaluation page. Portfolios may be in a folder, 3-ring binder, or construction paper cover. Creativity is expected.
