In math this week we learned about mode, median, range, and mean. We spent a lot of time putting numbers in order from least to greatest and then figuring out the mode, median, range, and means of those numbers. Mrs. Linstead said the notes were too long to copy so she even printed them out for us to staple in our notebooks.
In science we learned about the nervous system. We got to make a Smart Board lesson with our group and a section from the lesson. We will present these to the class on Monday.
We started a new novel called the Tale of Despereaux. It is about a mouse who does not conform. Conform means fit in with others.
We met our new student teacher that will joining us after Christmas Break. Her name is Miss Leake and she is from Eastern Univeristy. She will be with us all semester.
We do Scholastic News. First we have to read the newspaper and then answer the questions on the back. We learn about the tallest buildings in New York and that Native Americans are sky walkers. The presidential election results were also inside.
We learned about bullying. We watched videos about people bullying other people and how to react if it happens to us. We should STOP, WALK, AND TALK!
In science this week we learned about the body parts of the digestive system. We made little people and used yarn to put the intestines, esophagus, and windpipe on it. We also put a stomach.
We had a good behavior party. We had breakfast and we got to eat donuts, drink Sunny D, and just talk while we enjoyed the food. It was delicious!
We had a special assembly on Thursday. It was called the NED Show. NED stands for "Never Give Up", "Encourage Others," and "Do Your Best." The presenter told us a story about Ned and how he made bad decisions that effected his whole day. He made us promise to the teacher that we would always do our best and never give up. He did a lot of tricks with yo-yos.
We edited our Day in the Life essays. We met with Mrs. Linstead and she helped us with spelling and making our sentences the best the they could be. Next week we are going to record them with our pictures.
