We had presentations based on our autobiographies. On Monday, we really like Alex's puppet show. Dalton, Maddy, Camille, and Lanie also had a puppet show, Marissa wrote a song and sang it, and everyone else had a collage or timeline. They were really well done! We had choice board that we completed. We had to do a lot of worksheets with our teachers. We also read Meet and Underwater Explorer and worked on the proper word usage of lie and lay, can and may, I and me. We read our autobiographies to Mrs. Boyer's first grade class. They really liked them. They are going to write an autobiography in a few weeks. In P.E. we learned how to rock climb on the climbing wall. It was really fun! We played a game called SWAT. It was really fun. We had to find the right answer to questions that Mrs. Linstead asked us about civil rights.

This week in science we did an experiment on matter. We took syrup, water, and oil and poured them into a cup. We dropped green pepper, dried cranberries, and pieces of foil into the cup and then recorded our observations. We found out that oil is on the top, water in the middle and syrup is on the bottom. We had a math test in math. This week we wrote an autobiography. Next we will type it and work on presentations. Those presentations are due on January 21. We got into groups and read a story named Scruffy. Then we wrote problem and solution about the story and how he treated the pups. I learned that Scruffy was a wild wolf and not good at hunting for food but he was good at babysitting the pups. We worked on reading stations for four days. It was a lot of work because there was a lot of work to do. But when we finished the work there was a Jeopardy game to play on the Smart Board that reviewed irregular verbs. We did reading groups with Ms. Leake, Mrs. Fortney, and Mrs. Linstead and there were about six people in each group. We read short stories that were a half point and 5 questions long. Thursday morning we went to an assembly that had a loud drummer. It was awesome because we got to stand up and sing along with him. He showed us how to play several different types of drums. |
